I often compare cosleeping dangers to the dangers of riding in a car. For babies, riding in cars is far more dangerous than anything else. It’s the leading cause of death from 1-34 (I think I remember!). But no one says: Don’t ride in cars. Instead, we say, Here’s how to do it as safely as possible. Because people are going to ride in cars, and they are going to cosleep. Better to give them the tools to do it safely than try to coerce and shame them into not doing it at all.
